Ben Simmons Now Without Kendall Jenner, Jumpshot
When the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Toronto Raptors in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals a couple weeks ago, Joel Embiid was really broken up about it.
The All-Star center shed many tears on the court.
In sort of related news, meanwhile, teammate Ben Simmons has now broken up with Kendall Jenner.
It’s actually unclear which side of this famous couple ended the year-plus relationship, but Page Six was the first outlet to report that the romance is over.
The news comes as somewhat of a surprise because Kendall only just spoke to Vogue Australia, hinting strongly that she and Simmons might get married someday.
“Maybe. Definitely not now, but maybe one day,” Jenner told this publication when the subject of exchanging vows with Simmons was broached.
However, according to The New York Post Simmons was partying in Atlantic City with his friends at the time these quotes went viral.
To be clear, Simmons was reportedly out partying when the quotes went viral — not when Kendall actually said them, which may have been several weeks before the interview was published.
Simmons was spotted with pals at Kuro at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino celebrating someone’s birthday back then and was also seen last week at a strip club.
Sources said Simmons’ crew included a “tall, supersexy brunette,” but also that the polarizing point guard sent topless girls away any time they came over to his booth.
Neither Ben nor Kendall has directly addressed this split, although Jenner referenced Tyler, the Creator’s track “I Don’t Love You Anymore” on her Instagram Story a few days ago.
We guess we should have read more into that, huh?
Simmons and Jenner got together in March of 2018 and mostly kept their relationship on the proverbial down low.
Yes, Kendall would show up at the occasional professional basketball game to support her boyfriend, but they didn’t walk many red carpets together and almost never discussed their romance in public.
It’s not clear right now just where things went wrong.
“The relationship ran its course,” a People Magazine source now says. “She’s spending time with her friends and back to being in fun mode.”
For her part, Jenner previously told Vogue why she never flaunted her relationship with the baller on social media.
“For me, a lot of things are very special and very sacred, like my friends and relationships, and I personally think that bringing things into the public makes everything so much messier,” the supermodel told this magazine, adding:
“I’m very young and right now I feel like relationships aren’t always super-certain and I don’t want to bring too much attention to something if you don’t really know long term [what it’s going to be].”
Sounds rather prescient, doesn’t it?
Because now it’s over.
This news ought to make Philadelphia residents pretty darn happy.
Many of them had been urging Simmons to walk away from Jenner because they think her presence in his life had cut into Ben’s practice time.
He never really developed a jumpshot in his second season in the league and his team lost in the second round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
Will they advance farther next year, now that one of their stars is no longer distracted by a Kardashian/Jenner family member in his life?
Perhaps.
But it may depend on whether they resign Jimmy Buttler and/or Tobias Harris, two prominent free agents who are also expected to draw significant interest from other teams in the NBA.
