Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Hid the Birth of Their Third Child for Two Months for a Good Reason

If you didn’t know that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had their third child already, or even that they were expecting a third child, don’t feel bad. The birth of the newest Lively-Reynolds addition simply went according to plan.

During her pregnancy, Lively remained fairly inactive on social media, with only five posts to date within this year. She revealed her pregnancy when she showed off a very visible baby bump back in May during the premiere of Reynolds’s film, Pokémon Detective Pikachu. After maintaining this low profile, the Internet’s favorite couple kept the birth of their baby under wraps for two months until Us Weekly and People finally confirmed that Lively gave birth.

Apparently, it was all for a good reason.

A source told Us, “They do everything they can to make sure [the kids] have a normal upbringing.” Lively and Reynolds also share two daughters, four-year-old James and three-year-old Inez.

Speaking to Marie Claire in 2016, per ELLE, Lively explained her and Reynolds’s parenting technique. “Ryan had a nice, normal upbringing, and we want our kids to have the same normal life that we had,” she said. “We don’t ever want to rob them of what we had, because we’d feel really selfish.”

She also touched on what it’s like to have to shield her kids from paparazzi. “I’d rather not have to deal with it at all, but we knew the lifestyle we were getting into, and while it’s hard … it’s another thing when it’s our child,” Lively said. “[James] didn’t have the opportunity to make a decision about what she wants.”
