'Braxton Family Values' Star, Traci Braxton, Dead at 50
Traci Braxton has died. The vocal artist and reality TV star died on March 11, 2022. Braxton’s husband, Kevin Surratt, confirmed the news. She was 50. Braxton was best known as a vocal artist and for work on the reality TV series Braxton Family Values. The series followed Traci, her sisters, Tamar, Trina, Toni, and Towanda, and their mother, Evelyn Braxton, as they navigated their personal lives and careers.
Traci Braxton dead at 50 of esophageal cancer
According to TMZ, Braxton died after a lengthy battle with esophageal cancer. Kevin Surratt, Braxton’s husband, told the publication that the reality TV star had battled the illness for more than a year. He went on to say that she had undergone a series of treatments in an attempt to cure the cancer.
According to the publication, Traci’s family, including her sisters and mother, were at her bedside. Close friends were reportedly on hand at the time of her death, too. Braxton was the mother of one child, Kevin Surratt Jr., and the grandmother to Kevin Surratt III. Braxton’s husband, son, and grandson occasionally appeared on Braxton Family Values during its seven-season run.
Traci did not share her diagnosis with the public before her death. The same form of cancer took the life of Robert Kardashian Sr., the father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, and Robert Kardashian. He died in 2003. James Thomas Callahan, best known for his role on Charles in Charge, also died from the illness. He died in 2007.
