Britney Spears Criticized 'Hypocritical' Documentaries but Some Fans Are Suspicious
There’s been a lot more talk about Britney Spears lately. Thanks to her very public conservatorship battle with her father and the many documentaries being made about her life, the “Toxic” singer continues to make the news. Of course, being in the spotlight is nothing new for Spears. Her career in entertainment started at Disney when she was quite young and quickly catapulted her into superstardom.
Now, thanks in large part to the documentary Framing Britney Spears, the general public has begun to reckon with just how badly Spears was treated by the media throughout the course of her career. This has caused a number of people to publicly apologize to the “Lucky” singer for contributing to her mistreatment. And there are more documentaries in the works that will seek to analyze the dancer’s career.
Britney Spears calls out hypocritical documentaries
But it seems that Spears may not be so pleased that her life is being analyzed for others’ consumption. On May 4, 2021, she took to her Instagram page with a lengthy caption addressing the many documentaries being made that are attempting to tell a part of her life story. In the message, she got candid about how her year is going and her reaction to the recent press.
“Geez!!!!” Spears began. “2021 is definitely way better than 2020 but I never knew it was gonna be like THIS 😳😳😳 !!!! So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life … what can I say … I’m deeply flattered !!!! These documentaries are so hypocritical … they criticize the media and then do the same thing 🤔🤔🤔????? Damn … I don’t know y’all but I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life … I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life and unfortunately my friends.”
Is the singer really in control of her own Instagram?
Continuing on, Spears penned that the she was confused about why the documentaries are choosing to emphasize the low points of her life. “I think the world is more interested in the negative 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!!” the dancer penner. “I mean … isn’t this supposed to be a business and society about THE FUTURE 🤧🤧🤧 ???? Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago ???? I mean DAMN.”
Finally, Spears shared some of the things that she was looking forward to for the Summer including traveling, dancing, and gardening. Though some fans encouraged the singer to continue living her life and doing the things that bring her joy, others felt something more sinister was at play. Fans of Spears have long since speculated that Spears isn’t the one behind a lot of her Instagram page. Many of them feel that the “…Baby One More Time” artist is being forced to post or someone else is posing as her and posting on her behalf.
Some fans believe someone else is controlling Spears’ social media accounts
“Funny she can make dance videos, modeling videos and even fake ‘fan question’ videos but she never posts thoughts like this or a live video,” one Instagram user commented on Spears’s post. “Put more emojis in, that’ll make it look real, go on, a few more,” another person penned. “Say it on live and we’ll believe you,” yet another person declared. “Nah sis, do a video of you saying all of this and maybe I’ll buy it,” someone else added. “I honestly still don’t think this is her speaking on her posts at all…” another stated.
Clearly, Spears’ Instagram posts calling out documentaries managed to raise a couple of eyebrows. If someone is, in fact, posing as the talented singer, hopefully the truth will come out sooner rather than later.
