Captain Tom Moore's charity single with Michael Ball tops charts

Captain Tom Moore and Michael Ball have landed straight at the top of the iTunes chart with their charity single, You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Not content with raising more than £20million for NHS staff with his initiative to complete 100 laps of his garden, the 99-year-old joined up with the Love Changes Everything star to rack up even more money.

And their track has stormed right to the peak of the charts, just hours after it was released.

Tom, 99, celebrated the news on his Twitter account, telling fans: ‘Number 1 on the iTunes chart with @mrmichaelball and the NHS Voices of Care Choir, and 20 MILLION POUNDS for the @NHSCharities!’

We are absolutely not worthy.

Michael, 57, shared the song on his own social media profile, urging fans to get You’ll Never Walk Alone to number one for Tom’s 100th birthday, on 30 April.

‘What an honour it’s been. @captaintommoore you are a true inspiration for everybody,’ he shared on Instagram.

‘And, of course, we couldn’t have done this without the amazing NHS Voices for Care Choir.

‘The download link for the single is in my bio and 100% of the proceeds will be going towards Tom’s walk fund. Let’s get him to No.1 for his 100th birthday! Mx.’

Well, hopefully they can stay there for few days!

Tom gained fans from all over the world when he walked 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday, in a bid to raise money for NHS workers amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

The World War Two veteran initially set himself a target of £1,000 – but this quickly grew, with donations currently well over £20million.

He has pledged to keep on walking until donations stop coming in.

People have now started a petition for Tom to be knighted following his impressive efforts – which has amassed more than 650,000 signatures.
