Cheryl wants to have her say as shes blasted over Liam Payne age gap

Despite splitting back in 2018 the relationship between singers Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne, is back in the headlines.

The duo got together in February 2016 before they split in 2018, despite their first meeting on X Factor back in 2008 when Liam first auditioned for the show as a teen.

There is a ten year age gap between the pair with Cheryl now being 39, and former One Direction star Liam Payne being 29.

Despite the age gap the pair have a son, Bear together who was born in March of 2017, and the pair then split just over a year later.

The pair may have thought that the comments surrounding their relationship due to the age gap was in the past, but due to Phillip Schofield's affair they are back in the headlines.

Many people have been pointing out that the duo first met when Liam was only 14, at that time Cheryl was still married to footballer Ashley Cole.

Liam and Cheryl started dating in early 2016.

Cheryl is now said to want to have her say on the controversy a source has told Heat.

The source claimed: "Cheryl fears this is going to blow it all up for her, because no one wants to be associated with anything like that.

"She’d love nothing more than to have her say, but she knows it never comes out that way.

"For Cheryl, the 14-year-old thing is so twisted, and infuriating – she was married at the time, and there was absolutely no link with Liam there at all."

Over recent weeks people have been speaking about the age gap on social media, after Phillip's "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague at This Morning.

One person on social media pointed out the age gap saying: "Cheryl met Liam Payne aged 14, and later had a kid with him."

While another said: "Cheryl met Liam Payne when she was a judge on X Factor. He was 14 at the time.

"She went on to have a relationship with him several years later."

OK! has approached both Cheryl and Liam for a comment on the claims.

These claims come just days after reports started building that Cheryl is set to film a documentary, all about her rollercoaster life.

As she approaches her 40th birthday, she is said to be in talks over doing a documentary that will look back at her 40 years from her Girls Aloud days to recent times.
