Coldplay not touring until they can make it green to do so

Coldplay won’t tour until its globe-trotting can be “actively beneficial” to the environment.

“We’re not touring this album. We’re taking time over the next year or two to work out how our tour can not only be sustainable [but] … actively beneficial,” frontman Chris Martin told BBC News.

“Our next tour will be the best possible version of a tour like that, environmentally … The hardest thing is the flying side of things. But, for example, our dream is to have a show with no single-use plastic — to have it largely solar-powered.”

The band released its album “Everyday Life” on Friday, and they are currently in Jordan to livestream some shows (though it’s unclear how they sustainably got there).

Either way, Martin said fans shouldn’t expect him to hit the stage at Glastonbury either — because he got cyberbullied last time. “I saw a tweet afterward [that said,] ‘You can always rely on him to come on in a tracksuit and ruin everything,’ ” recalled Martin, who duetted at the festival with Kylie Minogue in June. “So I was like, ‘You know what … maybe [I should] just go and watch Glastonbury for a year or so.’”
