Friends star Courteney Cox and her fiancé Johnny McDaid have reunited after they were kept apart for after nine months due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

Courtney, 56, was seen in video message alongside Johnny, 44, who is a singer with Snow Patrol, with UK countryside in the background suggesting she has crossed the Atlantic to be with Johnny.

In the clip posted on Facebook as part of a community initiative in Johnny's home in Derry, Ireland, the pair are seen giving thanks to frontline workers.

Courteney said in the clip: "We just want to thank all the people at Ráth Mór in Creggan for all the incredible work you have done this year.

Johnny adds: "Well done guys, thank you so much for all the work, it's so appreciated. And I know it's been a really tough year, but here's to a great 2021 ahead."

During their forced separation, Courteney lived in Los Angeles while Johnny has been based in London.

The couple's appearance in the video, which was posted on December 11, was first time that they had been seen together since Johnny had returned to the UK in March.

The singer had returned the day before the first lockdown began.

Courteney told Foy Vance on his 'Vinyl Supper' podcast and video series in October she had been apart from Johnny for 200 days.

The actress said: "At first I was like, wow what do I do with myself? I cook every day, I've learned to cook so much more, I've perfected it…

"I haven't seen John in that many days, he left when the country shut down, the day before."

She also revealed she was too "chicken" to stay alone with 16-year-old daughter Coco.

Courtney added she was pleased that two friends stayed with Coco throughout the pandemic.

Courteney marked the seven year anniversary of the pair meeting in September

She wrote in an Instagram post alongside picture of the couple: "Sundays are different, I miss a lot of it, although people are starting to go, 'OK, people have been quarantining, everyone's safe,' they like to come to the beach so I'm not that lonely."

"7 years ago today I had my first date with this incredible man… and my life was changed forever. I love you J"
