Dan Walker, 44, is a regular on the BBC Breakfast sofa where he presents with Louise Minchin from Monday to Wednesday. However, the star couldn’t help but quip about how he’d been replaced when Louise shared a snap of them this morning.
Every morning, fans will know Louise tends to share a picture of her and her co-presenter before they go on air.
This morning was no different as she posed with Dan staring off into space in the background.
However, Dan was quick to reshare the picture in view of his 184,000 followers on Instagram with a cheeky comment about being “replaced”.
He penned alongside the snap: “I was a bit late for #BBCBreakfast this morning so they replaced me with a waxwork.”
Dan was talking about how he looks completely still in the background of Louise’s picture.
He also shared the snap on Twitter where he replied in a similar vein.
Posting to Louise, he penned: “Why have you got a waxwork in the background?”
Fans were quick to weigh in on his joke on social media after he posted it.
One simply penned: “Oh dear” while others shared laughing emojis.
“You do look very stern. Glad you are back to your jovial self,” added another.
“I like the light hearted banter you bring to the sofa.”
A third replied how the picture “does look like that!” underneath the snap.
A fourth quipped about how he should get one made for Louise after she announced her exit from Breakfast.
They wrote: “Maybe get one done of Louise for when she leaves.”
Louise confirmed she was leaving the show earlier in June after 20 years.
The star was emotional as she talked about leaving after first joining in 2001.
She said in a statement: “It’s not going to be for a while and just before anything else I wanted to thank everyone who is watching for your loyalty for your support over all those years.
“I have absolutely loved being part of it, I will really miss it but it is time now to stop.”
She also didn’t give an exact date for her exit but said it would likely be after the summer.
Louise added when she appeared on Breakfast after the news was confirmed: “I’ve loved being a part of it.
“But, there is a but, you know about the but, I’ve decided that it is time that I stop setting my alarm for 3.40am.
“Sometimes when I’m feeling really rebellious, it’s 3.46am in the morning and I’m going to be leaving the programme.”
The BBC has not announced who will be replacing her on the sofa yet.
