BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker told fans that he is feeling much better today after hitting his head earlier this week. The TV star, who is taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, said he’s going to have a “classic shiner” after being left with a bruise.

On Friday, Dan had to go to hospital for a head scan after walking into a glass door.

A day after the incident he started to feel a bit light headed and “wobbly” at training so went to get some medical attention.

He informed his 723,100 followers that a CT scan had come back clear with no signs of bleeding to the brain but was told to rest for the remainder of the week.

He took to social media this morning to give another update, ahead of tonight’s pre-recorded launch show.

“Feeling much better today thankfully,” Dan wrote online.

“The bruise is starting to come out so I should have a classic shiner for next week,” he added.

“Get back in the spray tan booth, that should help cover it. The make up ladies at #Strictly are amazing, so you will be fine!” Twitter user MandyMoos said.

“Got to give credit to the hotel cleaners – the door so clean you couldn’t see it!” user richardhullOEC remarked.

Dan then added in another tweet how he’s only going to be “taking a few days off training” but won’t be missing any shows.

Yesterday he praised the NHS for looking after him and his Strictly partner for their continued support.

In a health update, he said: “No blood on the brain but I have to rest for a few days. I’ll be a bit behind but back at [dancing] next week.

“The NHS is amazing & I can’t tell you who my pro is but I can say she waited for hours in the car park to check I was ok.

“Whatever happens on TV, she has a friend for life.”

Viewers will only have to wait till tonight to find out who the BBC star has been paired with.

Dan received his injury after leaving his wallet in a taxi.

Realising what he had done as he checked into a hotel, the father-of-three turned around to run after the driver, but face planted into a glass door which he thought was open.

“Full deck, gasps in the restaurant… lump on head,” he said at the time, after branding himself and “idiot”.

Dan has had a very eventful week so far.

On Wednesday he bid farewell to his BBC Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin after five and a half years of working alongside each other.

The 44-year-old said he is really going to miss his co-star.

Meanwhile, Louise, who quit after almost 20 years on the programme, wished Dan good luck for the future.

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 kicks off tonight at 7.45pm on BBC One.
