Emma Willis admits ‘it wasn’t love at first sight’ as she opens up about Matt Willis
Emma Willis, 43, made a surprising admission about the beginning of her relationship with Matt Willis, 35, recently. The Voice Kids presenter and the musician have been married for over a decade, but it seems that the couple didn’t see romance on the cards when they first met. The model revealed to Women & Home during an interview in September last year that they kept things purely platonic for a while before they started dating. She divulged: “It wasn’t love at first sight with Matt – we were friends at the beginning, and our friendship developed.
“I was working at MTV when we met.”
The TV personality also opened up about the “secret” to her marriage with the Busted frontman.
She added to the publication: “The secret is that we still like each other, we love each other, and fancy each other.
“We try to make time for each other with date nights.
“He asked me the other day, ‘Shall we have dinner out on Friday?’ but to be honest, I’d prefer to stay at home.”
Matt and Emma are parents to three children, Isabelle, 10, Ace, seven, and Trixie, three.
They recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary by renewing their vows, with Emma and her female pals all re-wearing their own bridal gowns for the occasion.
The blonde beauty recently joked about Matt’s organisational skills as a dad.
Addressing the subject in a conversation with Glamour Magazine, she said in reference to her other half: “He’ll be like, ‘Oooh, Emma sorts out all the childcare out because I leave them at school and forget’.”
In spite of this admission, Emma took the opportunity to gush about Matt on Father’s Day in a sweet post on Instagram.
The star shared a snap of the Year 3000 hitmaker and her dad holding up mugs which read: “Dad is the best” and “Dad is my hero”.
In view of her 1.5 million followers, she added the caption: “Happy Father’s Day to these two hero’s… #mydad @mattjwillis.”(sic)
Matt also shared a romantic selfie with his 377,000 followers alongside Emma while they visited the Cotswolds together.
He wrote: “Had the most incredible weekend in the Cotswolds with my family.
“We really are so lucky to live in such a beautiful country steeped in such History!
“This house is over 600 years old and has loads of weird cool s**t going on! Love England.
“Think I want a proper country life soon! Get right out of the way and have a cattle farm. 1 step at a time. Thanks @kateandtoms for finding us this beautiful place.”
The Voice Kids airs from 8pm on ITV tonight.
