Gary Rhodes last picture as chef filmed new TV series days before death

The last picture of tragic chef Gary Rhodes has emerged showing the chef filming a new TV series just four days before his death.

The celebrity chef passed away in his adopted home of Dubai last night aged 59 with his wife Jennie by his side.

He's believed to have spent his last day at work running his restaurant empire.

Mirror Online can now reveal Gary was working on a new TV show and was filming scenes for the series just days before he died.

Gary was putting the project together with the help of fellow chef Vineet Bhatia, who posed for a picture with the culinary legend during filming.

The snap shows Gary looking tired as he posed with an arm around his pal in the kitchen.

After news of Gary's death broke Vineet shared a tribute to his late friend, writing: "Extremely sad to know of Chef Gary Rhodes sudden passing away.‬

"Had known this gem of a man & an amazing chef for years and intact filmed with him just 4 days ago in Dubai for his new TV series.

"RIP my friend and may God give strength to Jennie and your boys in these tough times."

Gary previously explained his new show would be based in the Middle East and was slated to air in the UK in 2020

He said of the project: "‘It won’t be released until next year in the UK but that will be all about the Middle East. It will be all about Dubai and UAE and many other places.

"So that we hope…obviously there will be a book to go with that but that won’t be happening until next year."

It comes after Mirror Online exclusively revealed Gary was so dedicated to his job, he skipped his last Christmas with his family to go into work.

A picture posted online shows Gary greeting guests at one of his restaurants in Dubai on Christmas Day, 2018.

He'd previously admitted he regularly offered to work over Christmas – ignoring his wife's pleas to stay home.

Speaking back in 2017, he told Dramscotland.co.uk: "I made a promise to my wife Jennie that I wasn’t going to work Christmas day, and then as it got closer and closer, I thought ‘yes I am going to do it,’ and already I know that I am going to do it again next year.

"The restaurant was packed and busy and I loved doing it. Since I’ve been here I’ve worked every Christmas Day, I don’t have to, but I get a real kind of buzz from doing it.”

He added that being a chef is a difficult job and requires hard work to make it to the top.
