General Hospital star Billy Millers cause of death at 43 revealed as mum pays tribute
Actor Billy Miller, who was perhaps best known for his roles in General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, passed away following a battle with severe depression.
The US soap star passed away just days before what would have been his 44th birthday, with his grieving mother later confirming that he died by suicide.
In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, Patricia Miller said: "I would like to share the following thoughts. I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ — Billy Miller."
She continued: "He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years.
"He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.
"The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support."
Alongside his soap stardom, Billy appeared in a number of TV shows and movies, including American Sniper, Ringer, and ay Donovan.
He also appeared alongside Meghan Markle in legal drama Suits, where he played the character Marcus Specter in four episodes of the popular TV show.
During his career, Billy was nominated for six Daytime Emmy Award, winning twice for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and once for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Since the news of his sad passing, tributes have been pouring in for the late actor, with General Hospital's executive producer, Frank Valentini leading the way on Twitter, writing: "I am devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing.
"On behalf of the entire @GeneralHospital family, our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time."
While actor Gabriel Macht, who starred as Harvey Specter in Suits, wrote: "RIP my tv bro #BillyMiller I am touched by ur thoughtfulness, ur authentic honest approach 2 ur art, ur kind nature & big smile that Litt us all. May ur memory always be a blessing to ur Mother, ur Sister & her children. & 2 so many you’ve touched. Peace& [heart emoji]."
