Janet Jackson Announces Black Diamond World Tour

Janet Jackson has announced the schedule for her Black Diamond World Tour in support of her upcoming twelfth studio album, Black Diamond.

Jackson said the tour will see her perform music from Black Diamond, as well as songs from the rest of her hit records, including from her 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814.

The first leg of the tour will commence on June 24 with a show at Miami’s American Airlines Arena and will have stops in 34 cities, including New York City, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles and Vancouver.

The final concert will be on August 23 in Tacoma, Washington. The tour includes headlining shows at New Orleans’ Essence Festival and Cincinnati’s Cincinnati Music Festival as well.

Jackson recently talked about the new album’s title in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”

“It’s the toughest of the stones—of the diamonds—to cut. And I heard that immediately as it’s hardest to hurt and destroy. And I’ve come to realize in recent years that I’m incredibly strong. I see myself as this rock,” she said.

Jackson’s last new album was Unbreakable, released in October 2015. Last year, she reissued Rhythm Nation 1814 to mark the celebration of the album’s 30th anniversary.
