Jose Mourinho: Sky Sports star opens up on ‘secret’ to long-term marriage with wife
New Sky Sports pundit José Mourinho, 56, tied the knot with Matilde Faria, 53, in 1989.
In an unearthed interview, the former Manchester United manager gushed over his wife and admitted she had contributed to some of his decisions in football.
He told The Guardian: “The secret in everything is love. If you are successful in any job, I believe it is because you are in love with that job.”
Gushing over his wife, he added: “And if you have a successful family it is because people are in love with each other. Love is the basic.”

Within the 2014 interview, Jose said Matilde urged him not to take on the job as England’s coach.
He added: “[Frank] Lampard, [John] Terry, Joe Cole, everybody, was saying, ‘Come, come, come’.
“My players said, ‘The guys from Manchester United and Liverpool call us and say to us: Tell your boss to come.’ I had lots of positive things to push me.
“My wife told me not to take it and she was right.”
He added: “It was not the job for me seven years ago, it’s not the job for me now and I don’t think it will be the job for me in seven years’ time.”
Jose tied the knot with Matilde in 1989 after meeting as teenagers in Setúbal, Portugal.
The couple have two children together; Matilde, 23, – who’s nicknamed Tita – and José Mário Jr, 19 -known as Zuca.
The football pundit previously said his wife and kids were the “bosses” of their family home.
He told The Big Issue: “My wife and my son and my daughter have the biggest influence on me, that’s for sure.
“And why? Because they are the bosses and control everything in the house!
“And in relation to my job they don’t try to influence me but at the end of the day they have a big influence because when it comes to make big decisions – where to go, where to work, when to change – on this kind of thing they have a big influence on me.
Elsewhere today, Jose released a statement confirming his new role as a pundit on Sky Sports.
He said: “The Premier League is a special competition for me, one that takes so much hard work to win and you just can’t take your eyes off the matches every week.
“Sky Sports is the home of the Premier League and it’s a pleasure for me to join this team and help to understand and explain what happened in each match.
“Football is a huge passion, it means so much to the fans, and I look forward to being part of the Premier League with them until I return to my place on the touchline.”
Jose will make his studio debut during the Manchester United vs Chelsea coverage tomorrow.
