JWoww Opens Up About Her Son’s Autism Struggles: ‘He’s Come So Far’

JWoww is opening up about her four-year-old son Greyson‘s autism battle — and it sounds like he’s made a LOT of progress since first being diagnosed back in November.

The Jersey Shore star sat down along with a few of her castmates to speak to ET on Tuesday at Patsy’s Italian restaurant in NYC, and Greyson’s health was among the topics that came up.

As Jenni revealed while talking with the group, this past third season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation was actually pretty difficult for her because she was simultaneously dealing with Greyson’s medical appointments while filming for the reality TV special.

She remembered:

“ is honestly the best, and I think at that time, it was October, so I think I had to leave the dude ranch to go to one of his diagnosing appointments literally in the middle of the night.”

This whole ordeal seems pretty intensive — but worth it! She explained:

“It’s like, a four-part diagnosing at the hospital, and at that point I was OK with it, and I just wanted to get to where I am today, where he went from non-verbal, not even knowing his name, to today, where he’s attempting full sentences. He has a personality — he’s really just leaps and bounds. He’s come so far with all his therapies and stuff.”

Wow!

‘Leaps and bounds’ sounds like great news, for sure!

Jenni also opened up about how great an opportunity her family has now to spread autism awareness, even as difficult as times have been lately for Greyson and the group (below):

“My biggest thing with the platform and Greyson is — and I know a lot of people that try and deny it or brush it under the rug or just not speak about it — speaking about anything, especially autism, can break the stigma. That’s my biggest thing that I want to do right now, because there is such a big stigma, but there’s also a big population of kids getting diagnosed.

I just want to make the world a little less harsh and more sweet, so when he goes to school there will be less critics and more people that want to help and understand what it’s like to have autism. So, that’s my goal.”

Nice!!

You go, Greyson!!

At that point, Jenni got a little help from her castmates, as Vinny Guadagnino (who was also sitting at the table for the interview) jumped in with his own show of support for his Jersey Shore costar.

Vinny offered (below):

“We always support each other. I always send Jenni podcasts. I’m like, ‘Look, I think that this is going to be good for Greyson, or you’re going to learn something about this.’ always looking out for each other.”

Awww! That’s lovely! There’s seriously something so sweet about knowing how much this cast has each other’s back!

JWoww was clearly down with the support, too, and she delivered a great crack to sum up Vinny’s point, adding:

“When it comes to diet or anything like that, I always turn to Vinny. When it comes to alcohol, I turn to Nicole.”

Ha!!!! Snooki‘ed!

Probably right on both counts there, girl!!!
