Kate Middleton and Prince William share touching phone call praising ‘incredible’ NHS amid coronavirus

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a heartwarming message to the NHS staff and all those battling coronavirus on the frontline.

Taking to their Instagram channel Kensington Palace, Prince William, 37, and 38 year old Kate Middleton posted a montage clip of health workers from Queen's Hospital Burton listening to a phone call from Their Royal Highnesses.

In the clip, Prince William can be heard praising them as he says: "We’d just like to say from the two of us how proud we are of all of you and how amazingly you are all doing under extreme circumstances.

"I know all of you see this as your job and that you get on with it, but this is a different level and you are doing an incredible job."

He went on to express how grateful both the Royal Family as well the whole of the UK is for their tireless efforts to help those infected by the deadly bug, which has already killed almost 3,000 people across the UK and over 53,000 across the globe.

Prince William, who reportedly "wants to return to the NHS as an air ambulance pilot" to help during the pandemic, added: "The whole country is proud of you, not just us, we really mean that. So thank you for everything you’re doing and all the hours you are putting in.”

They captioned it with a brief summary of what they said followed by a first-hand account on how the virus is affecting staff across the country.

It said: "The NHS workers, including doctors and nurses, told The Duke and Duchess about the invaluable support they have received from their local communities as well as how they are supporting each other as they work through this crisis."

Fans of the royals immediately commented underneath the post as one person wrote: "The phone call from Prince William was extremely appreciated by the healthcare workers I am sure. Stay safe!"

Another said: "Lovely message …William and Katharine will make a wonderful king and Queen consort many years from now."

While a third added: "Thank you, I'm working alongside the derby royal critical care and theatre team and its so important for staff morale to hear all the public support," followed by two blue heart emojis.

The Royals, who recently shared an adorable card their son Prince George, six, made for Mother's Day, also re-shared a post from the hospital onto their Instagram Story.

It read: "Yesterday, staff at Queen's Hospital Burton received a very special telephone call from Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who offered their thanks to all of the teams across the #NHS and #TeamUHBD responding to the coronavirus outbreak."

The video came as the rest of the UK joined in for a second round of the Clap For Our Carers campaign, which saw Britons flocking to streets and balconies to applaud the hard work of everyone working to fight the virus, keep food on shelves and protect the public.
