Kelsea Ballerini Makes Waves Performing With Drag Queens At CMT Music Awards – After Tennessee Judge Temporarily Blocks Drag Show Ban!

Iconic!!

Kelsea Ballerini made a major statement while performing at the CMT Music Awards on Sunday night! During the country music award show held in Austin, Texas the singer and co-host started the show with a performance of her new single If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down, Too) — and she brought four drag queens on stage with her!

As Perezcious readers may know, Kelsea’s home state of Tennessee has been leading the charge in trying to get anti-drag show bills passed. Just hours before a first-of-its-kind piece of legislation was about to go into effect on Saturday, US District Judge Thomas Parker temporarily blocked the law, claiming it was too vague and broad. And then all the conservative country music fans had to watch Kelsea proudly perform with several dazzling drag queens (Kennedy Davenport, Manila Luzon, Jan Sport, and Olivia Lux) on national TV! A WIN for self-expression and fab fun!

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only time Kelsea got political on the show! While hosting alongside Kane Brown, she also took a moment to honor the victims of the Covenant School shooting, which took place just last week in the same city. In her emotional tribute, she also encouraged politicians to take action to create a safer world for us all with better gun control — another sticky subject for the south! Take a look at her powerful performance and speech (below).

Whoa! So moving! It’s seriously so incredible to see someone use their platform to spread such important messages. Reactions, Perezcious readers?! Let us know (below)!
