Kevin Clifton, 40, told fans he had scarcely missed a single day of work for well over a decade, but that his spell of good luck had now been broken. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who last won the show back in 2018 with his real-life partner Stacey Dooley, will still attend his show in Liverpool tonight, thanks to fast-acting medics.
Can’t remember the last time I was this ill!

Kevin’s fans admitted that they had been “absolutely devastated” not to have seen him on tour recently after he fell prey to illness and was forced into hospital.
Amid their concern, he explained: “After not missing a show through illness or injury since 2010 I’ve had a hell of a rough week.
“Can’t remember the last time I was this ill. Thank you Dr Arun Ghosh @ghoshmedicalgroup for looking after me and getting me back on my feet for @strictlyballroomtouruk tonight.”
The star, who will be appearing at the Liverpool Empire tonight, added as a parting shot on his post: “Thank you @edwinray309 for being the most brilliant Scott Hastings for the last four days. Legend!”

Stacey responded to the post by quipping: “But also” and then adding a heart emoji, as if to suggest that love conquered all during his health battle.
She then added: “this is SO LOVE OF HUNS I CAN’T,” with a string of laughter emojis, only for Kevin to retort “Thanks for the sympathy!”
His 370,000 followers also chimed in to wish him a “speedy recovery”, urging him to get back to his “first love” – performance.
Little over a week ago, Kevin had been bragging that he can still pull off the most flamboyant costumes in spite of having turned 40.
He added that he has a baby on the way with his beloved TV presenter girlfriend Stacey, who first announced the big news back in August.
“Was becoming impossible to hide [the bump] and if one more person asks me if I’ve had my t**s done in LA I’m gonna scream,” she had joked to her one million followers.
Meanwhile, Kevin is touring with EastEnders star Maisie Smith, who plays his lover Fran on the stage.
The star discussed his character – a frustrated ballroom dancer by the name of Scott Hastings, who is looking for more out of his life.
Despite being born into the profession, with his mother being a champion dancer as well, Scott had become “bored” with his life as a performer.
“He doesn’t feel like he’s expressing himself properly, and he feels like he’s dancing in a certain way just to win competitions,” Kevin told North Wales Live earlier this month.
“He’s actually sort of searching for something more but he doesn’t know what that thing is.”
The love story begins when he meets Fran (Maisie Smith) and the pair ignite a flame in each other and give birth to their own dancing technique.
“They start creating their own routines that are not acceptable to the Federation that says that they won’t win dancing like that [but] then they say ‘I don’t care’,” Kevin continued.
“It’s a love story. It’s a story of sort of self discovery,” he concluded.
As Kevin prepares to return to the touring circuit tonight, he will be cheered on by his real-life partner Stacey.
Meanwhile, fans wanting to catch a glimpse of Strictly 2022 dancers on TV can see the latest action unfold this Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
