Love her or hate her, but you can’t deny how entertaining Lizzo is. In recent months, we’ve seen her say all kinds of things and get into all kinds of shenanigans. But has she gone too far? On Dec. 8, Lizzo showed off her thong at a Lakers game, and people have a lot of feelings about it.
What exactly did Lizzo do at the game?
While sitting courtside at the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game, Lizzo revealed her thong. The moment happened after her Billboard-charting hit “Juice” came on.
Wearing a black dress with the rear cut out, Lizzo stood up and started dancing along. When she realized that she was on the jumbotron, she turned around and began to twerk, revealing her thong. She paired the look with fishnet stockings.
“This is how a bad b*tch goes to a Lakers game versus Minnesota,” Lizzo said in another clip, referencing a viral Nicki Minaj video while also flaunting her outfit in a Staples Center hallway (via UPROXX). “You b*tches can’t even spell ‘Minnesota.’”
Twitter reacts to Lizzo at the Lakers game
The moment received mixed reactions on Twitter. While some people praised Lizzo’s ongoing body positivity campaign, many people felt that she acted inappropriately.
“Who told Lizzo it was okay to walk out the house with her cheeks hanging out,” read one tweet.
“Being in a public place where there’s families and kids with your WHOLE a** out is indecent and y’all know this,” said another.
Even some of her fans were put off by the moment, with one woman tweeting, “I am here for Lizzo and body positivity, but … I’m not tryna see no a** cheeks at a basketball game.”
Others, however, stood up for Lizzo and accused her critics of being fatphobic.
“I hope Lizzo does everything with her a** out at this point,” one person tweeted. “At the very least it will make some question their phobias around fatness and why she triggers so many things a lot of y’all never comment about on ‘acceptable’ bodies.’”
“I’m not a huge fan of Lizzo but I do NOT tolerate fatphobia,” commented another. Anyone teasing her because of her size needs the guillotine. I’m not sure why it’s hard to treat people like human beings.”

In early December, Lizzo shared a series of naked photos on Instagram. Though fans often criticize her for these kinds of pictures, Lizzo has embraced her size and is comfortable showing off her body. She told CBS Sunday Morning in October that the mean comments actually helped her learn to love herself.
“Like, when I’m looking at my body and I’m shaming every little thing about it, I have to look at all of those things that I’m shaming, and I have to find love in those things. And I think that is why I’m able to call myself fat,” Lizzo said (via The Grio).
“I can also feel healthy and still be fat,” she continued. “I can be healthy and be fat. I can be beautiful and be fat. I can be beautiful and all of those things. And I think it’s because I learned to actually look all of my insecurities in the face, call them by their name, and fall in love with them.”
