Man Auditions for ‘America’s Got Talent’ After Being Wrongly Incarcerated for 37 Years (Video)

Archie Williams is the contestant you’re going to remember this season on America’s Got Talent after watching his powerful audition.

The 59-year-old singer was wrongly incarcerated for nearly 37 years after being accused for the raping and stabbing of a woman in 1982.

“I knew I was innocent, I didn’t commit a crime but being a poor black kid, I didn’t have the ability to fight the state of Louisiana,” Archie said in his interview.

Archie was released from prison in 2019 after The Innocence Project took on his case and DNA evidence proved that he did not commit the crime.

“Freedom is of the mind, I went to prison but I never let my mind go to prison,” Archie said about how he survived the nearly four decades in prison.

Archie sang the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” and won over all the judges. Simon Cowell tweeted out the audition video and wrote, “This is Archie Williams. I will never forget this audition for the rest of my life. And I’ll never listen to this song in the same way ever again.”
