EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Perry, 54, cuts a casual figure as he steps out in sportswear for low-key outing in LA

Matthew Perry cut a casual figure as he stepped out to run errands in LA on Tuesday.

The Friends actor, 54, who was seen enjoying a lunch date with a mystery woman last month, wore a sporty ensemble comprised of a navy blue Nike shirt, teamed with black cycling shorts, with grey shorts worn over the top.

The star completed his look with a pair of black and white Nike sneakers and some shades.

The Chandler Bing actor wore his greying locks pushed back from his face and carried a reusable cup during his outing.

The TV star celebrated his 54th birthday on August 19 and appears to be in far better health these days, having charted his path to sobriety in his best-selling memoir: Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, released last November.

In his book, the Friends star laid bare the height of his terrible drug and alcohol addiction battle which nearly cost him his life.

He revealed that his colon ruptured as a result of his opioid addiction when he was 49.

Doctors gave him only a two percent chance of survival and he was in a coma for two weeks followed by months more in the hospital.

Perry required 14 surgeries to help repair all of the abdominal damage, and he admitted to having gone to rehab 15 times over the years in hopes of kicking his drug addiction.

At one point during his Friends career, he admits he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and was down to 128 pounds but yet he ‘didn’t know how to stop.’

He even revealed he would go to real estate open houses – not because he was interested in buying property but to see if he could steal drugs from medicine cabinets.

His book also raised some eyebrows when he appeared to have bashed Hollywood heartthrob Keanu Reeves.

Perry questioned actors like Reeves ‘still walks among us’ while peers such as River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died prematurely.

Perry wrote: ‘River was a beautiful man inside and out – too beautiful for this world, it turned out.

He issued an apology amid backlash for the comments.
