Phillip Schofield out of covid isolation after missing This Morning for a week

Phillip Schofield has confirmed he’s finally out of isolation after testing negative twice for Covid.

The presenter, 59, has been absent from his presenting duties on This Morning and Dancing On Ice after testing positive for coronavirus at the end of January and previously admitted he was “bored out of his brain” after isolating for a week.

However, his luck seems to have now changed – on Monday afternoon he posted a negative lateral flow test, followed by another negative test today, meaning he could leave isolation.

Sharing a photo of his negative test on Tuesday, Phillip wrote: “It's official!!! 2 days negative… I'm FREEEEEEE”.

The day before, the star had posted another photo of a test, captioned: “oh hello!! What do we have here?” alongside a fingers crossed emoji.

Phillip had been isolating at home since the end of January and has not featured on either This Morning or Dancing on Ice as he awaited his isolating time to come to an end.

On Sunday night, Stephen Mulhern filled in for the star on Dancing On Ice and Phillip watched the ice skating show from the comfort of his sofa with a nice beverage.

"Well this is an experience I never expected!! I’m loving watching with a G&T @hollywilloughby @stephenmulhern,” Phillip wrote as he got settled to watch the ITV show.

Sunday’s episode marked the first occasion long time co-host Holly had presented the show without Philip and saw her reunited with her former Ministry of Mayhem presenting partner.

Stephen and Holly worked together on the children's TV show from 2004 to 2006 and the pair seemed to enjoy themselves back on screen together.

During her introduction on the show, Holly sent well-wishes to her friend and long term co-host Phillip.

"Welcome to the greatest show on ice, we have got a packed show tonight. You may have heard, Phil is isolating… so for the first time ever, he won't be here this week", the presenter explained.

Holly cheerfully added: "I know he's watching at home… we're sending you lots of love, Phil! However, the lovely Stephen Mulhern has stepped in to save the day!"

Stephen saved the day on Dancing on Ice and last week Vernon Kay had to step in to co-host This Morning with regulars Holly Willoughby and Rochelle Humes.
