Prince William and Duchess Kate launch YouTube channel: See their first video
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have joined the masses: They launched their first YouTube channel on Wednesday, adding to the future king and queen’s social media presence.
Prince William and Duchess Kate announced the launch on their Instagram and Twitter accounts.
“Better late than never – we’re now on @YouTube,” they joked in their post.
The first video they shared on YouTube is a 25-second highlight reel showing Will and Kate at multiple and memorable royal events and engagements over years, with peppy rock music in the background.
It opens with the two of them sitting on a couch and joking with each other.
“Be careful what you say now because these guys, they’re filming everything,” William teases his wife. “I know!” Kate says, laughing.

An hour after they posted, the YouTube video had more than 40,000 views. The same video posted to their Instagram had more than 1.1 million views.
They didn’t offer an explanation as to why they decided to get a YouTube channel at this moment, years after they started their Instagram (12.7 million followers) and Twitter (2.2 million followers) accounts.
But the Cambridges, who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last week, are now the focus of even more attention in the wake of brother Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan of Sussex’s departure from the royal fold for a new life in Southern California last year.
Will and Kate are also stepping up to increased responsibility as 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth II reduces her public duties due to age and the coronavirus pandemic, and his father, Prince Charles the Prince of Wales, takes on more of her workload.
The YouTube video features a variety of scenes such as the pair on red carpets, Will serving spaghetti, handing out a trophy and flying a helicopter, and Kate greeting children, showing off her garden to the queen and shearing a sheep.
It wasn’t the first video they’ve ever released, but such glimpses have been relatively rare.
Last week, for their wedding anniversary, they released a new video of the family, including children Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, running around outdoors at their Norfolk country home, playing on the beach and toasting marshmallows around a campfire.
