Rupert Grint breaks Sir David Attenborough's Instagram record
Rupert Grint has only gone and broken Sir David Attenborough’s record for the fastest time to reach 1million followers, after joining Instagram.
The Harry Potter star, 32, who is best known for playing Ron Weasley in the much-loved franchise, decided to finally sign himself up with an account earlier this month, so he could introduce his newborn daughter to fans.
Rupert shared a selfie of him kicking back and enjoying a snuggle with his baby girl and revealed her lovely name, Wednesday G. Grint, in his first ever Instagram post.
He wrote: ‘Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.’
In just four hours and one minute Rupert successfully racked up 1million followers and his cute photo with Wednesday has now got over 3million likes a week later.
It’s now been revealed by the Guinness Book of World Records that he just pipped Sir David to the post, as the veteran broadcaster, 94, landed 1million followers in four hours and 44 minutes when he joined Instagram at the end of September.

Sir David shared an important video message urging fans to join him in looking after the planet and tackling important issues like climate change.
‘I am making this move and exploring this new way of communication because, as well all know, the world is in trouble,’ he said in his short clip.
‘Continents are on fire, glaciers are melting, coral reefs are dying, fish are disappearing from our oceans… the list goes on and on. But, we know what to do about it.

Since then, Sir David has shared 27 posts and now boasts 6.2million followers.
Rupert, meanwhile, has already accumulated 3.3million followers.
He recently became a dad for the first time, welcoming daughter Wednesday with his actress girlfriend Georgia Groome – who fans know best from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
The pair have been together for nine years now, but keep their relationship so low-key that fans were shocked to see snaps of the pair together as recently as 2018.
