Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has addressed her worries as she takes part in the popular BBC dance show. In a new interview, the Countryfile host, 39, spoke of her concerns around people not voting for her as she spoke about the toughest parts of performing with her dance partner, Gorka Marquez.

If no one votes for me does that mean no one likes me?

Helen opened up following Loose Women panellist Kay Adam’s departure as the first celebrity contestant to leave the show.

The This Week on the Farm star admitted it was a “horrible” experience, which made her become more wary of the voting process.

Helen explained: “As soon as it came to the Sunday show, and we realised that one of us had to go home, I became really conscious of the voting.

“And it does make you question yourself – if no one votes for me does that mean no one likes me?

“It’s a new level of pressure, I suppose, and it’s something I didn’t really think about before I took on this challenge,” she wrote in The Telegraph.

Helen went on to gush over how “proud” she is of the ITV personality, before revealing they’d grown close since Kaye had left the show.

It comes as the former Blue Peter star signed up to appear on the show after splitting from her rugby player husband Richie Myler earlier this year.

Ahead of her pairing with Gorka Marquez, a source claimed the presenter was open to finding love again.

They told the Daily Mail: “This is quite the opposite of the Strictly curse. Helen has already lost the love of her life, now she wants to find a new one.

“She cannot wait to get stuck into it all, she has been through the most difficult of times, so this is going to open so many doors for her.”

Helen and Richie broke up just four months after she gave birth to their third child together, daughter Elsie.

In April, she wrote on Instagram: “Very sad to say Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home.

“We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”

Helen concluded her post with two broken heart emojis.

As well as their baby daughter, they are also parents to Ernie, seven, and Louis, five.

Her ex Richie has since moved on with girlfriend Stephanie Emily Thirkill, who features on his Instagram page.

After being contacted by Express.co.uk, a representative for Helen has denied the Countryfile star is hoping to find love again on the dancefloor.

They said: “Helen is on the show to learn how to dance and have fun.

“[She is] absolutely not looking for love.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC One.
