Ted Nugent Show In Alabama Canceled Due To Social Media Backlash
Ted Nugent‘s concert in Birmingham, Alabama, has been canceled due to social media backlash surrounding his controversial political views.
The legendary rocker was scheduled to perform on July 18 at Avondale Brewing Co. However, his appearance was canceled on Thursday afternoon, May 4, one day before tickets were due to go on sale via Ticketmaster.
Avondale Brewing’s Facebook page received nearly 1,000 comments criticizing the musician for his far-right beliefs and labeling him as homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic.
“We have heard the concerns of the Avondale community, which is so important to us,” Avondale Brewing Co. said in a statement, “and in conjunction with our partners have taken the necessary steps to cancel the Ted Nugent concert scheduled for July 18.”
Nugent replied to the news by retweeting an article about the show’s cancellation and adding the caption, “Liars and haters drunk on stupid incapable to debate me.”
