Twenty One Pilots Perform Mash-Up Of Mulberry Street, Elton Johns Bennie And The Jets

Twenty One Pilots performed an improvised mash-up of their own “Mullbery Street” and Elton John‘s “Bennie and the Jets” as a part of their AT&T Playoff Playlist set on Sunday.

The song started with a verse from the duo’s track from their last album Scaled and Icy and slowly transitioned into the Elton John classic. Singer Tyler Joseph said that “Bennie and the Jets” is his father’s favorite song.

“Hey kids, shake it loose together/ The spotlight’s hitting something/ That’s been known to change the weather/ We’ll kill the fatted calf tonight, so stick around/ You’re gonna hear electric music/ Solid walls of sound/ Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen her yet?/ Oh, but they’re so spaced out/ B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets,” sang Joseph as Josh Dun hit the drums.

The song ended with another verse from “Mullbery Street” asking the audience to “keep your bliss, there’s nothing wrong with this.”

Twenty One Pilots’ Scaled and Icy reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 after releasing in May.
