If you’ve spent any time online over the past week, you’ve probably seen what’s been happening with Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter. If not, the two stars reportedly hooked up amid Cyrus’s split from her husband, Liam Hemsworth.
Sources initially said it was just an innocent little peck. However, new reports are suggesting that things might be more serious between Cyrus and Carter than previously believed. In fact, an insider told People on Aug. 16 that they’ve been “spending most of their time together,” which prompts the question: Did Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter move in together?
They’re “staying together”
The source explained that Cyrus and Carter have been “staying together” in Los Angeles following their Italian getaway, where they were seen kissing on a boat. It’s unclear if they two are simply enjoying a few casual nights together or if they’ve gotten so serious that they decided to move in together. But the insider added that they’ve been bonding over their latest breakups. (Carter recently split from Brody Jenner.)
“They are both going through similar stuff right now and are bonding over it,” the insider explained to People. “Miley is very close with Kaitlynn. It’s romantic, but also a friendship,” the source added.
TMZ reports that Cyrus and Carter also recently hung out with the singer’s mom, fueling rumors that their relationship is heating up. However, reports say that Cyrus isn’t rushing to divorce Hemsworth, so it’s totally unclear what’s truly going on with these two.
Why Cyrus and Hemsworth broke up
Cyrus and Hemsworth allegedly had a lot of problems in their decade-long relationship. For one, she reportedly wanted to return to music, while he wished to live a quieter life.
“She has been ready to put out music and be back in the game touring and performing,” a source told E! News on Aug. 10.
Reports also say that the “Wrecking Ball” singer grew tired of Hemsworth’s alleged hard-partying ways.
“Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate],” a friend of the pair told People on Aug. 14. “Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now.”
They reportedly tried to work through their issues, even pursuing therapy. But it apparently just didn’t work out.
“They have been trying to make it work for months now haven’t felt they were connecting on the level they were feeling when they got married last year,” the E! News insider shared. “It’s been a rough year.”
But they could reportedly still get back together
Their fans — and family members, apparently — have been holding out on the hope that the stars will get back together. Luckily for them, reports say there’s a chance it could happen.
“They are having a break right not because they needed it. It was a bad situation with a lot of disagreements,” a source close to Cyrus told People on Aug. 13. “They both agreed it’s better to spend time apart, but this doesn’t mean their relationship is completely over.”
Who knows what the future holds for Cyrus and Hemsworth. But, for now, it seems like they’re focusing on themselves.
