Cleaning fanatics share the simple way to stop pesky drain flies taking over your sink | The Sun

WE all enjoy the summer weather – but one thing we all dislike is the amount of flies that seem to magically appear.

Fortunately, cleaning fanatics have revealed the simple way to banish pesky drain flies from your sink.

But cleaning fanatics have revealed there's no need to go out and buy any speciality products to banish them for good as you probably already have the product at home, reports the Express.

Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, 32, has long been a favourite amongst fellow cleaning enthusiasts, with close to 4.5 million followers on Instagram.

The star rose to fame a few years ago with various home hacks and now her fans have even started dedicated cleaning pages on social media.

In one such group, a fellow cleaning enthusiast asked: "Anyone knows how to get rid of drain flies? Nothing works."

And people were quick to share their simple solutions – with one technique of using bicarbonate soda being repeated in the comments section.

One wrote: "We used soda bicarbonate, table salt and white vinegar.

"Two overnight doses and they were gone, finished off with some bleach when no further evidence of the flies."

Another added; "A cup of bicarbonate of soda and a cup of white vinegar down plug hole and let it fizz".

"When it stops pour a kettle of boiling water down. Then at least once a week a cup of soda crystals and boiling water."

Baking soda and vinegar is a great method to kill drain flies and give your sink a good clean.

The vinegar will react with the baking soda, causing it to fizz, and the reaction is what will kill the larvae.

Leave the mixture overnight, then flush in the morning with hot water.
