Fringed fashion is back for 2022: Here are our favourite pieces

From glamorous 1920s flapper vibes, to Western inspired 70s style, fringes are back with a vengeance.

They are set to be one of this year’s most defining trends, having been seen on the SS22 runway and spotted on stars including Charlize Thereon and Olivia Palermo.

It’s one of those things that you think won’t come back any time soon, only to find yourself cursing donating old items to charity, or selling on Vinted.

From tassled denim jackets and fringed lounge suits, to glamorous mini-dresses and pencil skirts, anything goes…

So, if you fancy resurrecting the fringe (and the tassle!), here are some of our favourite pieces to start with.

ASOS fringed mini dress in gold

With all-over fringing, scoop neck and deep scoop back, and cami straps, this LGD (little gold dress) will take you from spring to festival season, all the way through to festive nights out later in the year.

Pair with heels for a party and biker boots for, well, anything else at all.

& Other Stories fringed midi leather skirt

You can’t beat a bit of fringed leather – and this skirt has got it all. The shape, the luxury, the perfect ratio of fringe to skirt material.

It looks expensive – and it is, but it’s worth it.

Buy it here for £225.

Mango fringed, black denim jacket

Oversized and boxy round the shoulder, this denim jacket may have fringes but, with such a lovely shape, they’re not even the main attraction.

A great all-rounder to add a bit of 2022 spice to any outfit.

Buy it here for £69.99.

After Hours denim jacket with suede fringes

Or, if you want a lighter denim for the warmer months, this After Hours number in indigo is a lovely option.

The blue suede fringes and the relaxed shape scream summer, and it will add character to the most casual of outfits.

Buy it here for £118.

Karen Millen satin crepe feather hemmed trousers

Ok, so these are technically feathers – but they give a definite fringing effect.

In a lovely satin, these ankle grazers would look amazing with a pair of heels, or white trainers for a more dressed-down vibe.

Buy them here for £50.

Mango knitted top with tassels

This wool number has a subtle sparkle and the tassels to match.

Whether with high waisted jeans or a pencil skirt, it’s extremely wearable – and it’s knitted, which is very cute.

Buy it here for £29.99.

Topshop fringed shacket

If you’re looking for a more subtle fringe, this is perfect.

The hem has a very minor fringing detail, which gives a nod to the trend, without going full scale cowboy. The gathered sleeves are also a nice touch.

Buy it here for £29.99.

Coast fringed midi wrap dress

This fringed midi from Coast is gorgeous. With super long fringes on the hems, and a tie wrap detail, the silhouette is great.

Note: If you fancy wearing it to the wedding of a traditional bride, it also comes in black.

Buy it here for £127.20.

Nasty Gal plus sized fringe trim satin wrap

Or, there’s this one – which is also lovely, even without the sleeves.

It also has adjustable straps, which is always a winner – especially with a wrap.

Buy it here for £56.25.

ASOS fringed lounge set in pink

Pyjamas or lounge set? We’ve all lost track. Either way, this set will make watching Netflix at home feel a lot more glamorous.

The brave among us even could pull it off on a night out.

Buy it here for £35.

Warehouse colour block fringe jumper

Fringes aren’t all about the glamour – this chunky, black and cream colour block jumper is a comfy and cosy way to wear the trend.

Montagut jumper with large fringed roll neck

As is this grey one – although it’s a lot more pricey.

But those arms look like they’d make you feel as though you’re being wrapped a big cuddle – and it’s hand knitted.

Oliver Bonas gold fringed earrings

If you want to start small with your foray into fringes, earrings are a great shout.

This gold fine circle and fan drop pair are lovely, subtle – and just £15.

Anthropologie bardot fringed swimsuit

This bardot swimsuit from Anthropologie might not be the most practical for swimming (would the tassles all float up to the top of the water?) – but it’s a flattering cut and a nice way of introducing some fringes into your wardrobe.

Buy it here for £60.

Fringed midi pencil skirt

For a more glamorous fringe, this show-stopping pencil skirt comes with a matching sequinned top – pair for full impact.
