Girl finds surprise seven-month-old note hidden in loose bed post of their cabin Airbnb from a previous guest
A GIRL couldn't believe her luck when she came across a hidden note that had been stashed away in her Airbnb by a previous guest seven months earlier.
TikTok user Shawna Morris had been enjoying a "cute" getaway in a cabin in Vermont over in the US and joked her trip became so much more "interesting" after she discovered a note that had been left behind and hidden away in a loose bed post.
The cap of the bed post wasn't screwed on properly and noticing it was loose, Shawna looked inside to see a crumped piece of paper stashed at the bottom.
Sharing a video online – that has since been watched over 2.8million times – Shawna was seen trying to prise out the surprise note with a stick.
"I noticed that this was un-sturdy," she said pointing at the loose cap, before revealing: "Look, there's a note. I've been using this stick to try and get it."
After successfully retrieving the small piece of paper, she shared a follow-up video that included a picture of the hidden note so that those invested in her treasure hunt could read its contents.
The letter said: "We stumbled across this loose cap to the end of the bed and like any college kids on an adventure thought it would be clever to leave a note for the next homies who find the stash spot."
It continued: "Tonight we are having steaks, sweet potatoes, asparagus, [unreadable]. Oh eggplant too!
"We got ourselves some Bud Light and are having a chill night. Isn't this an amazing cabin! Have fun, stay woke! Love, Wendy. Please add a note."
Giving an update, Shawna revealed: "So it's not hidden treasure, it's nothing like mysterious or anything, it's just a cute little note."
It did inspire her to do some of her own detective work, though, and she trawled back through the guestbook to try and find the guests that had left it behind.
Figuring it out that the note had been stashed seven months prior, Shawna said: "But I did recognise the handwriting from the cabin guestbook.
"I went back into the guestbook, matched the handwriting and it shows that it's from January 19, 2020."
She vowed to carry on the tradition, adding: "So Wendy, if you're seeing this, thank you for making my trip that much more interesting and I hope that you find my note that I leave."
People were all for the idea, as hundreds commented on her videos and praised the "cool" idea.
"What a sweet note," one person posted.
Another said: "That is so cool. Imagine a couple years from now someone finds your note and leaves another."
A third wrote: "I already know Wendy is someone I'd wanna chill with."
