Gran’s horror after being ordered to pay Egyptian toyboy ex £40k after he wooed her with camel rides – The Sun

A GRAN who married an Egyptian man half her age has been ordered to pay him £40,000 in a divorce settlement.

Amr Elasar – who was just 22 when the pair first met – wooed Marilyn Lewis with free camel rides after they met at a Red Sea resort in 2008, when she was 50 years old.

Despite warnings from family and friends, Marilyn married Amr at the British Embassy in Cairo just a year later – but once the pair returned to the UK, their relationship took a drastic turn.

Marilyn – who says she spent £30,000 on treats for her new husband – claims Amr turned "money grabbing" and says she caught him on cougar dating sites.

Now divorced, 61-year-old Marilyn has been ordered to pay Amr £40,000 in settlement fees.

The mum-of-three, who has been married twice before, says she's horrified over what's happened and believes Amr "never loved her".

She told the Sunday Mirror: "It might sound crazy but those first dates were the best days of my life.

“He wooed me like a pro and I was flattered. It was like a film. He took me to Cairo, he gave me camel rides and one night he stuck candles in the sand and arranged a musician to serenade us."

Marilyn – who says she thought Amr was 28 – was embarrassed to be with a younger man, but says Amr told her their "souls were the same age".

Despite warnings (Marilyn's daughters even moved out of the family home in South East London in protest) the gran says she even remortgaged her house to buy him treats, as well as wiring cash and forking out for a car and driving lessons once he had moved over to the UK.

Although Marilyn did insist on a pre-nup, it was signed without a witness, making it void.

At one point, Marilyn says she was contacted by a woman in her 60s who said she was owed £6,000 by Amr.

At the time, Marilyn dismissed the claims, but not long later she says she found Amr had messaged women claiming to be an accountant.

The final straw came after she bought Amr a £4,000 Mercedes in 2014, with the toyboy promising to pay her back at £200 per month.

A couple of months later, Marilyn says bailiffs came to the house and she discovered her husband had taken out two £3,000 loans.

Soon later, the pair separated and filed for divorce.

The divorce was finalised in 2014 and Amr was granted leave to remain in the UK.

But last year, Marilyn received a £100,000 divorce claim, which was later reduced to £50,000.

Just over a week later, the gran was ordered to pay £40,000 after it was concluded that Amr would need to "establish himself" in the UK.

Marilyn says she is "staggered" by the settlement, with her daughters having set up a crowdfunding page to try and help cover the cost.

Amr told the Mirror that he has not lied and claims he cannot remember if he used the cougar dating site.

Adding that he "did love" Marilyn during their marriage, he said: "This was a court order. They reviewed everything and I have been rewarded that sum. I did not lie. I believe the courts here are very fair.”
