How Kate Middleton tweaks her clothes to make them less sexy so they are suitable for a royal wardrobe

KATE Middleton has developed a handy trick for tweaking her glamorous royal wardrobe so it is less sexy.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, often has garments tailored before she wears them to remove any necklines and sexy slits.

One of the occasions the royal has redesigned an item is when she appeared on BBC’s A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry in December.

The mum-of-three wore a red Alessandra Rich dress that was altered to hide the revealing keyhole neckline opening.

Instead she opted for a large bow at the neck to look more elegant and removed a waist-high slit in the dress.

Stylish Kate has also altered a number of other items last year too, including on her royal tour of Pakistan in October.

The duchess was pictured wearing a chocolate utility shirtdress from the shop Mint Velvet, which she had tweaked to become a top.

And at Royal Ascot in July, Kate’s stunning two-piece Elie Saab also had some differences to the regular version.

Kate wore the outfit with full length sleeves instead of the original shorter alternatives.

And when she visited the charity Family Action in London in January, Kate wore a forest green dress by Beulah London that had the original fluted sleeves removed.

When she visited Wimbledon with Meghan Markle, she wore a green Dolce and Gabbana dress, but removed an embroidered clock from the original design.

Meanwhile, the duchess is also thought to have changed her Wimbledon final outfit by tweaking the fullness of the skirt to flatter her figure.

Kate’s beautiful wardrobe is partly down to stylist Natasha Archer, who has worked with the duchess since 2014.

She will typically assess any trends from the seasons ahead, and then discuss any styles, prints and patterns with Kate before approaching designers.

It is thought small changes like sewing up a neckline could fall to Natasha, but bigger tweaks could happen at the design house.

While Natasha was on maternity leave, Kate sought out the help of former Vogue editor Virginia Chadwyck-Healey.

A royal source told Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: “Ginnie is Catherine’s secret weapon.

“She has made a big difference to the Duchess’s wardrobe for public engagements and has helped give her a whole new sense of confidence.

“Catherine has been really impressed and is very grateful for her help.”

Ginnie is an old friend of Prince William and Kate, with the two women studying history of art at St Andrews together.
