Sheffield United in stitches when a dog pees on a cone in training

Sheffield United players burst out laughing when a dog PEES on one of their cones as they train in a park near Anfield ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash

  • Sheffield United travel to Anfield on Thursday to face title favourites Liverpool
  • Chris Wilder’s men had been training in Stanley Park, which is next to Anfield
  • But their session was disrupted by a dog, who ran along and urinated on a cone

Preparing to face the unbeaten league leaders at their home ground is challenging enough as it is.

So spare a thought for Chris Wilder and Sheffield United, whose training session ahead of their game with Liverpool was briefly disrupted when a dog urinated on one of their cones.

The Blades had been training at Stanley Park, which is in the shadow of Anfield, with the players getting ready for an activation session before they are surprised by a dog which came running along.

The dog, circled, springs a surprise on the Sheffield United team as it urinates on their cone

Once finished, it runs off, much to the hilarity of most of the first team squad and coaches

One of the team coaches initially bends down to beckon the dog after its arrival on the makeshift training pitch, before erupting into laughter after watching it lift its leg up and pee on one of the cones the players were about to dribble around.

The dog then trots off, with most of the squad left bemused. Sheffield United posted a video of the incident on Twitter, jokingly writing: ‘Just trying to do an activation session in peace.’

Liverpool fans couldn’t resist the opportunity to poke fun at their upcoming opponents.

The Blades were training in Stanley Park, right next to Anfield, during their visit from the dog

One supporter joked: ‘Serves you right for training in the local park’, with another suggesting the Reds had sent the dog ‘to sabotage the training session’.

STANLEY PARK

Opened: May 14 1870

Location: Liverpool

Acres: 111

Classification: Grade II* listed

Stanley Park is a public space which divides bitters rivals Liverpool and Everton, with Anfield and Goodison Park situated on either side.

It was originally where Everton played their home games in 1879 before the Toffees moved to Priory Road and then later on Anfield Road.

Liverpool had been considering using some of the park to build a new stadium, but the plans were scrapped, with the club opting to expand Anfield’s capacity instead.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking to extend their incredible unbeaten by avoiding defeat against the Blades – if they do so they will have gone exactly a year without tasting defeat in the league.

The Reds have won every single game this season bar one – a 1-1 draw to Manchester United, giving Sheffield United a sizeable task to come away with any points.

Chris Wilder has Sheffield United flying his this campaign after their promotion last season

Liverpool could go 13 points clear with a game in hand and go a year undefeated with a win

Chris Wilder’s men have been impressive on the road this season, although they come to Liverpool off the back of their first away defeat of the campaign after their 2-0 loss at Manchester City.

His team have only won at Anfield once in the Premier League, when Jostein Flo secured a 2-1 win in April 1994.

A shock victory for United would see them climb above Manchester United into fifth, while Liverpool can go 13 points clear with a game in hand if they win.
