Reason Princess Kate is sometimes seen without her engagement ring
Kate, Princess of Wales was given a beautiful sapphire and diamond engagement ring from Prince William in 2010, and over the years, there have been a handful of times she has been seen without it. According to a jewellery expert, there is a good reason why Kate removes her engagement ring.
The most recent time Kate stepped out without her iconic jewel was last summer when she attended the Commonwealth Games swimming trials in Birmingham.
For the occasion, she wore an all-white outfit consisting of an Alexander McQueen suit jacket, with coordinating trousers and a simple white t-shirt underneath.
She chose a pair of Mappin and Webb Empress Diamond Earrings in white gold and the matching Empress Diamond Necklace in white gold, but no engagement ring, instead her simple gold wedding band.
According to Steven Stone, the reason for Kate removing her engagement ring is “likely to be down to health and safety” and “royal fans were left wondering where her engagement ring was” considering she was observing the swimming trials with Prince William and Princess Charlotte.
The day before, however, Kate was in Plymouth to take part in a Team Great Britain race against New Zealand.
She arrived in a pair of shorts and a Breton stripe jumper with her engagement ring on her fourth finger.
But by the time she had changed into a wet suit and life jacket, she had removed her engagement ring.
“Kate typically removes her engagement ring whenever she is taking part in physical activities and sports or when there is a greater risk that the ring could become damaged or lost,” the Diamond experts added.
