The three spots in your bathroom that are filthy and should be cleaned more often… your bath matt is a germ-magnet | The Sun
IT'S no secret that the bathroom is a bit of a breeding ground for bacteria, but it might be worse than you even realise.
Apparently, there are three spots loads of homeowners are forgetting to clean and they're smothered in germs.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Deyan Dimitrov, CEO of Laundryheap, revealed the spots you should always double check, and why they get so dirty in the first place.
First on the list are bath matts, which are an essential in any bathroom to prevent floors from getting soaking wet.
Your bath matt should be washed once per week, the cleaning whizz revealed.
“Make sure to double check their label’s washing requirements before doing so," he said.

If you bath matt has a rubber backing it might not be the best idea to wash it in the machine, he added.
"To prevent bacteria build-up without damaging the rubber, it’s best to spray them with white vinegar weekly, and to wash them in cold water every three to four weeks.”
Deyan also recommended replacing bath matts after two years to keep your bathroom as spick and span as possible.
The next thing in your bathroom that is probably overdue a good clean is your shower curtian.

Although more and more homeowners are opting for glass screens rather than a curtain, plenty of homes still have them.
The only problem is they can get mouldy pretty fast from the moisture, which isn't idea.
The pro said: "Your shower curtain liner should be cleaned every month. The best way to do this, without damaging its materials, is to pop it in the washing machine on a gentle wash."
And for the best results you can chuck a bath towel in the same wash to help scrub it during the cycle.
That said, if you aren't sure if your shower curtain is machine washable you can just scrub it with "a few drops of bleach to a dampened cloth or sponge," the pro said.
And finally, it's easy to forget the things we use to clean also need to be washed themselves, and your toilet brush is a prime example of this.
In fact, you should be giving your toilet brush and it's container a good scrub weekly.
Using hot water, soap and bleach, fill the container and swirl the brush around in it before letting it soak for roughly 10 minutes.
Rinse the brush out with clean water and let it dry before popping it back into the container.
