Love Island final date confirmed as Aftersun star makes live slip-up

It looks like the Love Island final date has been confirmed following a slip-up on the Aftersun live show on Sunday night.

There’s been a lot of speculation around when the final might take place, especially following how dramatic recent episodes have been, with Casa Amor fallouts still dominating the villa.

But it appears the final will be sooner than expected, as former islander Sam Thompson, 30, let the potential date slip during the most recent episode of Aftersun.

The live show, hosted by Maya Jama, saw Sam and Indiyah Pollock, 24, as well as other guests, discussing the latest updates and drama from the villa, as well as predicting what might happen in the next few days.

During their chat, Sam said Ella B’s arrival was a ‘tough time’ because she only had two and a half weeks before the show ended to make her move. He said she would have caused ‘even more chaos’ if she had been in there earlier.

It’s expected, then, that the final will be on Monday 31 July. In previous years, the finale starts at 9pm and rounds up around 10:35pm, which means you can get an early night before work the next day.

Sam’s throwaway comment led fans to take to social media to complain about only having two weeks of summer viewing left.

“This might be the biggest failure of a season ever because why are there no solid couples so close to the final,” commented one Twitter user.

“The final is round the corner and at this rate I have no clue who’s gonna be in the final,” commented former islander, Tasha Ghouri.

With the recent recouplings and dumpings, it’s hard to say who will be in the final three, especially with the shock news in Sunday night’s show when new bombshell Ella Barnes chose to couple up with Mitchel Taylor, causing a stir around the fire pit.

Abi Moore was left unimpressed after Ella stole her man and went on to share with islanders exactly how she was feeling when she was forced to recouple with Scott Van der Sluis.

In a mic drop moment, she said: "I'd like to couple up with this boy as I think it's safe to say that neither of us have had a smooth journey in here.

"Especially when other people are getting involved in situations, causing triangles.

Whitney Adebayo went on to label the recoupling "scandalous".

This season of Love Island has been particularly juicy and packed with drama, with fans posting on Twitter: “Nah shoutout to these #LoveIsland producers, this is the best season yet. Not one dull moment.”
