Ariana Grandes ‘archless’ eyebrows prove shes slowly morphing to Audrey Hepburn
Ariana Grande has been posting more and more beauty content on her Instagram since she launched her makeup brand r.e.m. beauty. We’re always ready to take notes on application tips when the singer sends them our way in the form of tutorials, but we can’t help but wonder who she might be taking beauty notes from herself.
In a series of new makeup-free snaps posted on her Instagram Stories, Ariana looks almost the spitting image of a young Audrey Hepburn from her Sabrina days – an iconic 1950s movie in which Audrey starred as the lead. The two do share similar face shapes and dark hair, but Ariana seems to be emulating Audrey when it comes to makeup and features.
Specifically, it’s Ariana’s eyebrows that give her a classic Audrey Hepburn beauty look. For those who have followed the singer since her Disney channel days, you might remember Ariana used to favour quite thin, angular arches. Now, she’s transformed her look with the help of an “archless” eyebrow makeover.
What is this, you wonder? Jamie Long, lead stylist at HD Brows, explains the look in further detail.
“Ariana’s brows are framed with only a very minimal arch – hence the term ‘archless eyebrow’ – likely inspired by the iconic Audrey Hepburn look. The tail of the brow is angled up slightly to open up the eyes and lift the face, which keeps the eyes looking youthful and fresh. It’s a brow style that is universally flattering, but it works really well with Ariana's soft features,” he says.
“Many celebs have recreated the look, from Meghan Markle to Lily Collins – and now Ariana. If you have big eyes and dark hair, you can pull this look off.”
According to Jamie, if you want to achieve this look for yourself, there are two ways you can do it: by microblading your brows or booking in for brow lamination. The microblading so that you can draw more of a straight shape to get this archless look, and the lamination to get the full and fluffy brows favoured by both Audrey and Ariana.
If you’re not sure if the straight look will work for your face shape, we’d suggest not picking up a pair of tweezers as a first point of call. Instead, try drawing on their “archless” shape with the help of a brow powder and/or a brow pencil.
We wonder if Ariana will take the plunge and get an Audrey-inspired fringe next!
