Eurostar passengers’ fury after being stuck on train ‘for two hours’ in Calais

Eurostar passengers have been left furious after being stuck on train 'for two hours' in Calais.

Passengers were reportedly held on the 12:13 train from Paris to London for two hours before being asked to re-board another train.

On their Twigtter page, Eurostar said: "We apologise to passengers #ES9027, currently held in Calais awaiting a replacement train.

"We request you all remain on board, with the doors closed, until further instruction from your train manager. Thank you for your understanding."

Many passengers stuck on the train missed connections in London and took to Twitter demanding refunds.

One said: "I am on that train… tell me who to complain to NOW – I am going to miss 2 important meetings in London and a connecting train to Bristol – I want a refund AND compensation. #diabolicalsevice."

Others complained of "unhygienic" toilet conditions and claimed the service had run out of food and drink.

One passenger said: "Train from 12.13 Paris – London. Mechanical failure; it is shameful after a long moment of uncertainty we are brought back to Calais or 1 train from London will arrive in 1:15! At the dock without being able to go out, smoke, unhygienic toilets, empty bar. Nothing to eat to drink #honteux."

Another said: "What is going on with train 9027? I get that it's hanging due to technical problems but when are we transferring to the new train?

"Just sitting here in the middle of nowhere. Completely unprofessional & unacceptable."
