Evil Karen Matthews who faked daughter’s kidnap gets engaged and shows off ring

Twisted mum Karen Matthews, who drugged and kidnapped her own daughter, has become engaged.

The mother sported a large ring when she was out shopping with her handyman fiancé earlier this week.

In 2008, Matthews faked the abduction of her then-nine-year-old girl Shannon in a bid to make money out of her disappearance.

The mum was jailed for eight years but was released with a new identity in 2012 – half way through her sentence.

She then moved from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, to the south of England, where she met her now-fiancé Paul.

It is said she met him when he came over to her house to do some repair work at her flat.

Her future husband is apparently not bothered by her past and proposed to her over Christmas, according to a report.

A source told The Sun the pair are inseparable and Matthews is in love with her new man.

They added: "Both of them have been walking round like teenagers. The ring is like Princess Diana’s design.

"She apparently bought it herself with money she saved. He knows who she is but he can’t be bothered about her past.

"He’s been staying over pretty often. I just think it’s disgusting that anyone could want to be in a relationship with her.”

Shannon was found under a bed in a home belonging to her mum's friend, Michael Donovan – her then-boyfriend's uncle.

Matthews and Donovan hoped to claim £50,000 in reward money through the fake abduction.

The Sun approached Matthews for comment but was told by her fiancé to go away and was threatened with legal action.

He initially denied knowing Matthews and then said it had nothing to do with anyone, according to the newspaper.
