I work long hours but my girlfriend’s never there when I get home — I think she doesn’t want to be with me – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I WORK long days and come home to an empty house at night because my girlfriend’s always round at her mum’s.

She hasn’t got dinner on the go or anything. I don’t really think she wants to be with me.

If she loved me surely she would be there when I get home?

I am 33 and she is 31.

We have been together for four years and have a two-year-old daughter.

I sometimes think she is only with me because she is financially better off with me being here.

DEIDRE SAYS: Life can feel tough alone at home all day with a toddler.

It must feel much easier to be at her mum’s rather than trying to get dinner after a long day with a two-year-old.

Tell her you both really need to try with your relationship for your child’s sake.

Could you sometimes join her and her mum for dinner?

Could she prepare something round her mum’s to bring home with her?

I know you contribute your earnings but do you do enough hands-on parenting at weekends to give your girlfriend a proper break?
