I’m engaged but can’t stop fantasising about getting back together with my first love – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE a beautiful, caring fiancée but I cannot forget my first love.

We were 17 when we got together and she had already arranged to go travelling with her mates in her gap year after school. We both found it hard to say goodbye but it got easier over time.

I am 24 now and I met my fiancée five years ago. She is 23 and we have a two-year-old daughter.

We recently got engaged – but then I saw my ex in town. We had a chat but it was just briefly catching up. Ever since then I have been feeling depressed, thinking about how happy we were.

My fiancée is the perfect mother and partner but I always fantasised about getting back with my ex somehow.

I don’t even know whether she is interested. I cannot bear breaking up my family but I want to be happy.

DEIDRE SAYS: First love can be very special but you would have got back together when she returned if you were right for one another long-term.

Be careful you don’t ruin the good relationship you have now.
