Is Meghan Markle's New Nickname Her Worst One Yet?

While Meghan Markle has faced a number of obstacles during her time in the royal family, one of the most difficult is undoubtedly the harsh treatment she has received from the press.

From the very beginning, Markle has been subject to a host of rumors regarding different cruel nicknames. They were supposedly given to her by various members of the royal staff. The latest nickname, revealed in a recent news report, could be the most unkind and ill-intentioned one so far.

What nicknames has Meghan Markle received in the past?

Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle had a good career as an established Hollywood actress. While not an A-list celebrity by any means, Markle’s dedication to her craft and performances in a wide variety of film and television projects, including her best-known role on Suits, meant that she had the means to take care of herself.

She also ran a popular lifestyle blog. Markle was considered to be a social media influencer, with a large fan following. Still, since the beginning of her relationship with Prince Harry, Markle has suffered from a very negative image in the press. 

The idea that she is difficult or demanding to work with has been perpetrated by the press. Although the sources claiming that she has these nicknames have never been made public, people seem to believe the stories.

Within the past year and a half, she has been called “Me-Gain,” “Duchess Difficult,” and even “Hurricane Meghan.” Most of the nicknames seem to trace back to the fact that Markle is determined in many areas of her life, knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to ask others in her circle to work as hard as she does, even getting up incredibly early in the morning to start her workday.

For these reasons, many of Markle’s fans have called the nicknames and the general treatment that Markle has received by tabloids all around the world, as evidence of sexism and even racism. 

What is Meghan Markle’s latest nickname?

Even though Markle has been out of the public eye since giving birth to her son, Archie Harrison, in early May, the rumors (and the nicknames) have unfortunately continued. A recent report claims that Meghan Markle has earned a new nickname. This one was supposedly given to her by a member of the royal family.

The report states that Markle has been referred to as a “degree wife,” meaning that she will only last three years as Prince Harry’s wife. Interestingly enough, the report refuses to name the royal who supposedly gave Markle the nickname.

Needless to say, this is a cruel nickname. Hopefully, no one in Markle’s inner circle would actually say such a thing about a new mother. Moreover, in spite of the fact that the rumors about her difficult nature seem to persist, many of her close friends have spoken out to say that there is no truth to the perception of Markle as being a diva. They said that the “global bullying” was having a negative impact on Markle. When in reality, she is the same kind person that she was before marrying Prince Harry.

Will the public and press ever treat Markle better?

It won’t be long before Meghan Markle returns from maternity leave and resumes her royal duties alongside Prince Harry. It will be interesting to see whether the public perception towards Markle ever undergoes a shift. We will wait to see whether or not the new mom will decide to speak out on her own behalf at some point in the future. For now, it seems as though the negative stories by the press will continue.
