Is Shawn Mendes’ new ‘sunflower’ tattoo a tribute to Camila Cabello?
Shawn Mendes may have just taken his relationship to the next level.
The “Señorita” singer, 22, showed off his new tattoo on artist Kane Navasard’s Instagram on Thursday, sparking speculation that the ink may be a tribute to his girlfriend, Camila Cabello.
“For his little sunflower,” Navasard captioned a pic of the tat, which indeed says “little sunflower” in cursive on the pop star’s ribs.
Fans were quick to flood the comments, with many pointing out that sunflowers are Cabello’s favorite floral. However, others noted that Mendes’ sister Aaliyah is a fan of sunflowers as well, and neither Navasard nor Shawn have commented on who or what inspired the design.
If the ink is a tribute to Mendes’ little sister, it’s not his first; earlier this year, the signer had Navasard add Aaliyah’s name on his collarbone, and previously tasked the same artist with tattooing an “A” behind his ear as well.
It’s unclear whether Cabello accompanied the crooner to his appointment or what she thinks about the ink; however, the two seem to still be very much in love. In September, the former Fifth Harmony singer shut down rumors of a breakup, praising her boyfriend for his forthcoming album.
“My love, I’m so proud of the person you are and I’m so excited for people to see and hear your heart,” she wrote in part.
The pair was first linked in summer 2019, and have displayed tons of PDA both onstage and off. However, they have not been spotted publicly together in recent months.
