Is this the UK's BEST pub? Locals love boozer where cheap pints are sold for just £3 – & location is surprising everyone | The Sun

A BOOZER selling pints for £3 has been named as the best place to get a cheap beer – and its location might come as a surprise.

The Greene King pub is a stone's throw away from some of the UK's most famous attractions, which makes its affordable ale even more appealing.

The Museum Tavern is a cozy little pub located next to the British Museum in Central London.

And it has recently been revealed as being one of the cheapest places in the capital to get a pint.

On average, Londoners pay 77p more per pint than the rest of the UK, who pay around £4.07p.

And the cost gets even higher in Zone 1 where you will be struggling to pay less than £6 a pint.

However, according to a recent post on the r/London subreddit there is still some hope for people who want to enjoy an affordable pint in the capital, reports MyLondon.

The thread titled "Pints that don't break the bank" revealed that there are some places in central London that won't leave your bank balance dry in a bid to quench your thirst.

One Londoner said: "I was in Farringdon last week and paid £14.55 for 2 pints, and one of them was non-alcoholic.

"Where in zone 1 can you still get a good pint that doesn't seem completely extortionate?"

Surprisingly other users were quick to respond with suggestions.

One of the replies recommended sticking to chain pubs and mentioned that Greene King is currently offering a promotion that could make drinking in central London a lot lighter on the wallet.

One commenter said: "I was at the British Museum today and went for a few beers after at the Museum Tavern which had 2 for 1 on their own (Greene King) beers and Peroni.

"So, £6.25 for two beers. B****y lovely in central London."

The deal, which runs from 4-7pm Monday to Thursday and applies to all Greene King pubs, is a great offer if you want a couple of midweek beers.

Other Londoners were quick to agree, one said: "Yep, nice little pub as well, for a chain.

"Used to work at the museum and went there a lot."

Someone else suggested looking at a Tube Map that lists cheap pints around London, which shows Holborn's cheapest pint is £1.59 at the Shakespeare's Head.
