We’ll never forget the iconic wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William; that beautiful Alexandra McQueen dress and where we were also introduced to her gorgeous sister, Pippa Middleton, for the first time.

Soon after, Kate and William whisked themselves off for a no-expense-spared honeymoon to the Seychelles, but during that time the couple actually ended up breaking royal traditions.

However it wasn’t their gorgeous holiday destination that did this, but in fact the timing.

Usually it’s tradition for married couples to leave for their honeymoon straight from the wedding, but Kate and Will broke royal protocol as they decided to stay a few extra nights in the UK before jetting off for their honeymoon.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge still had a wedding night to remember, as they spent the night at the Queen’s very own home, Buckingham Palace, after their show-stopper wedding.

Ten days after their big day, Kate and William reportedly headed for the North Island in the Seychelles.

The luxury private island resort, set far North in the Indian Ocean, costs more than £5,000 a night and is the ultimate destination for those looking for total privacy and relaxation – which is probably exactly what they wanted.

There’s only 11 villas on the tropical resort too, each surrounded by the natural beauty of the island, with white sands and clear turquoise waters.

It’s also a popular destination choice with celebrities, too. George and Amal Clooney stayed there after their wedding in 2014, while Julia Roberts, Paul McCartney and Angelina Jolie have also reportedly vacationed there.

Megan Markle and Prince Harry also broke royal protocol, as they decided to stay in the UK after their nuptials back in 2018 to celebrate Prince Charles’ birthday party, before jetting off on their honeymoon.

Not all members of the royal family have decided to honeymoon in exotic locations and have had their honeymoon in the UK.

After their wedding, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh enjoyed a break at Birkhall on the Balmoral estate, which is also where the Earl and Countess of Wessex also stayed.
