McDonald's boosts coffee loyalty scheme so you can now get TWO free cups for less

MCDONALD’S has revamped its coffee loyalty  scheme and it’s good news for those who need a caffeine kick to start the New Year.

The fast food chain has made it so thirsty diners can get their free hot drink even quicker, plus there’s a sneaky trick to get you a second free cup at the same time.

Instead of getting your seventh hot drink free, you now buy five cups and get the sixth free – saving you the price of buying one hot drink.

McDonald's hot drinks range in price from 89p to £2.09 and the offer is available on all regular-sized hot drinks in the McCafe menu.

The coffee scheme has only been boosted on the McDonald’s app though, so you still need to buy six cups to get your seventh hot drink free if you collect the physical stickers.

But it's still worth collecting these as you can technically build up your app stickers and physical cup stickers at the same time.

To do this clever get-around, buy a cuppa as normal using the app but make sure you also save the sticker on the disposable cup.

You'll eventually end up with five virtual stickers on the app, giving you your sixth drink free AND your sixth physical sticker needed to get another free cuppa.

So in total for the two free drinks, that's a saving of between £1.78 and £3.56.

To make the most of the offer, you’ll need to make sure you have the free McDonald's app on your smart phone.

The app can be downloaded via Google Play or the App Store.

If you're all set for your caffeine fix, check which McDonald's is closest to you by using the online restaurant finder.

This isn't all that's new at McDonald's this month – the fast food chain is bringing back Spicy McNuggets this week.

McDonald's is also launching its first-ever vegan meal with dippers that taste of pesto.

Meanwhile, this McDonald’s fan has explained how to order mayonnaise even though it’s not on the menu.
