Meghan Markle Just Clapped Back Over Major Drama Surrounding Archie's Birth Certificate

Though Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry have been living away from the spotlight as of late, the Sussexes were just thrust into some major drama surrounding their son, Archie Harrison’s birth certificate.

Now, Meghan is using her voice to clapback at all of the noise.

There was tension between the Sussexes and the British royal family after Archie’s birth

By the time Archie was born in May 2019, one year after the Sussexes’ wedding, there was already reported tension between Meghan, Prince Harry, and the British royal family. The pair kept the circumstances surrounding Archie’s birth shrouded in secrecy.

The pair refused to confirm Meghan’s hospital, and though Meghan had given birth at 5:26 a.m. on May 6, Buckingham Palace did not announce the baby’s birth until 2 p.m. The Sussexes also refused to pose for photos that day or name Archie’s godparents publically.

“It is still expected by monarch, palace and just about anyone with a stake in the game that the world should be told who the new royal baby’s ‘sponsors’ are,” historian Robert Lacy writes in his book Battle of the Brothers via The Daily Mail, How can you judge the suitability of a sponsor who remains unknown? Yet the names of Archie’s godparents are still a secret today.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s names were randomly changed on Archie’s birth certificate

Some of the details surrounding Archie’s birth were finally made public when the baby’s birth certificate was filed. Initially, Meghan’s name on the birth certificate read Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. Her occupation was listed as “Princess of the United Kingdom.” Prince Harry’s name read, His Royal Highness Henry Charles Abert David Duke of Sussex.

However, just 19 days later, both Meghan and Harry’s names were erased from Archie’s birth cirtificate. Meghan’s name read simply, “Her Royal Highness Duchess of Sussex.”

Many people began speculating that this was all apart of the Sussexes Megxit plans. “Maybe this was an early part of their plan,” Queen Elizabeth II’s ex-press secretary Dickie Arbiter said via Daily Mail.

Lady Colin Campbell added, “It is extraordinary and raises all kinds of questions about what the Sussexes were thinking.” Now, Meghan is getting to the truth of the matter.

Meghan Markle just clapped back at the drama around Archie’s birth certificate

Now that she is no longer a senior working member of the British royal family, Meghan is speaking up for herself. She released a statement through her spokesperson clapping back at the speculation. The statement read via The Daily Beast,

The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by the palace, as confirmed by documents from senior palace officials. This was not requested by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex nor by the Duke of Sussex. To see this U.K. tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ chose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document would be laughable were it not offensive. There’s a lot going on in the world—let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait.

As far as the royals are concerned, Buckingham Palace blames the alteration on a “clerical error and nothing more than that.”
