My husband was violent and abusive but I still feel lost without him

DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband has left me for a beautiful woman and broken my heart. I still love him even though he was very violent towards me.

He was fine before we got married eight years ago but the trouble started just two weeks later.

He got drunk one night.

When I stopped him getting another drink, he punched me in the head and half-strangled me.

I thought it was a one-off and forgave him.

But it was the first of many beatings.

If a man so much as said hello to me, he’d beat me to a pulp.

Despite all this I love him.

I’m 35 and he’s 38.

But now I’ve discovered on Facebook he’s been living a parallel life this past year with a beautiful girl.

He went into lockdown with her instead of me.

I said I’d tell her what he’s like but he replied: “Keep your mouth shut or you’re for it.”

DEIDRE SAYS: I am sorry you are so sad but I hope he stays away from you now.

Please get help so you can see him for the abuser he is.

If he threatens you again, report him to the police.
